About sociology
The Department's distinctiveness has long been rooted in our mission to develop a program of research and teaching that highlights the interplay between individual lives and our society's key problems. Our research and teaching interests focus on diverse contemporary issues central to the progress of the discipline and to the well-being of society, such as: social movements, families, social inequality, cultural theory and studies, race and ethnicity, educational inequalities, and urban life, to name just a few.
