From business to health, from the arts to social programs, USF is at the hub of the community, looking for and finding opportunities to make the Tampa Bay area a safe and viable place to live. USF faculty, staff and students volunteer 600,000 hours annually to their communities. USF physicians provide more than $22 million in pro bono care. "The community is a vitally important part of USF, and USF is a vitally important part of the community. We are working together to make the Tampa Bay area a better place to live, work, and play," states , Director of Community Relations.
USF has an impact on the local and state workforce. Through the Career Center's recruitment services, community corporations, organizations and agencies have access to a diverse, well-educated pool of job candidates.
The University of South Florida is one of only ten public research universities in the country to be designated as both "very high research" and "community-engaged" by the prestigious Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. USF was awarded more than $300 million in research contracts and grants last year and its annual economic impact on the Tampa Bay region is estimated to be $3.2 billion
