New Site Design

USF.edu has Been Redesigned

The new main USF website launched Friday, Dec. 7, 2012. It is maintained by University Communications and Marketing.

The new website features content developed specifically for external audiences, including prospective students and their families, alumni, donors, jobseekers, sports fans, patients, campus visitors, legislators, the media and vendors, to name a few.

As such, the new website includes information about academic programs, admissions requirements and processes, financial aid and scholarships, maps, directions, parking and much more.

The new website showcases USF-branded templates, new content and enhanced functionality, including:

History: The USF History page includes a decade-by-decade overview of major university milestones, from our founding to our first football game and beyond.

Traditions: The USF Traditions page provides details about many of the university’s traditions, including the Herd of Thunder, the “Go Bulls” hand signal, university logos and colors, Rocky the Bull and more.

Facts and Statistics: The Facts and Statistics page features links to the most current, approved USF Facts and Points of Pride, as well as information about Strategic Initiatives and more.

Administrative Units: The Administrative Units page provides a detailed listing of every academic and administrative unit on campus. UCM plans to add significant enhancements to this page in 2013.

Web Tools: The Web Tools page helps key audiences perform key business functions, such as logging in to email accounts, accessing the MyUSF portal and more.

Calendar: The new USF Calendar of Events (currently in testing) includes a branded interface and detailed event listings for all major campus events that are open to the public. Events are organized into subcategories and are searchable by key word, making it easy for site visitors to find events.

Social Media Waistband: This new addition, located on the USF homepage, allows site visitors to quickly access all the main university social media platforms and the Social Media Directory.

Visit USF: The Visit USF page features a widget that allows site visitors to get detailed driving directions to campus, as well as links to campus maps, visitor parking permit information, campus shuttle information and more.

Contact USF: The Contact USF helps site visitors find the main university phone number, technical support, staff directory information and website URLs, email addresses and phone numbers for a variety of frequently-visited units.

About This Site: The About This Site web page provides information about who manages content on the main USF website, as well as technology notes and web privacy information. Web accessibility information will be added to this page once new policies are completed.

Additional enhancements will be added throughout 2013, including a new interactive online campus map and a new academic program database. More information about these enhancements will be included in future articles.

This will be the first of many websites to migrate into the university’s new content management system, commonly known as the USF CMS. Eventually, every unit on the USF Tampa campus will migrate.

You probably have lots of questions about the CMS and the content migration process: What is a CMS? What does it do? How does it work? What are the benefits of using it? To learn more, visit our Q&A page.
