Community College Transfer Access Scholarship (CCTAS)

The Community College Transfer Access Scholarship (CCTAS) is administered by the Florida Diversity and Equal Opportunity Office in conjunction with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at USF for economically or educationally disadvantaged Florida residents. Scholarships are based on financial need, academic merit, and other selection criteria. Applicants must be transferring with an AA (or approved AS) degree from an accredited Florida public community/junior college, with preference given to students from first-generation-to-college, limited-income backgrounds, and/or diverse ethnic backgrounds. This scholarship provides $3,200 ($800 per semester for up to four semesters) for educational expenses at the University of South Florida. Priority consideration will be given to scholarship applications received by April 16, 2008 though we will continue to accept completed applications until June 27, 2008.

Scholarship Requirements

  • Completed an AA degree (or approved AS degree) from an accredited Florida community college between December 2007 and August 2008

  • Obtained a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on all transferable postsecondary credits

  • Admitted as a degree-seeking, upper-level student to USF for Summer or Fall 2008

  • Completed 2008-09 FAFSA form on file with the Office of Financial Aid by the scholarship deadline
    Please DO NOT send a copy of the FAFSA form with this scholarship application.

  • U.S. citizenship or permanent resident alien status
     

How to Apply

Submit a completed 2008-09 CCTAS Application by June 27, 2008.

  • Complete the 2008-09 CCTAS Application (PDF)

  • Complete the 2008-09 FAFSA form on file with the Office of Financial Aid before the scholarship deadline

  • At least two (2), but no more than three (3) letters of reference (at least one must attest to your academic potential)

  • Two (2) essays, typed, no more than three pages total (both essays):

    1. Discuss your academic and career goals, as well as your potential to contribute to the University of South Florida.
    2. Write about a time from the last ten years in which you demonstrated significant leadership and overcame obstacles, either through your work, school or family life. Explain what was accomplished, and how your actions made a difference.
