Welcome to your Counselors' Corner. We hope you will find this site useful and will access it frequently. We know that counselors are a vital part of the college planning process for students, and our goal is to provide you with tools you may find helpful when advising your students about college. We have also included links to other web resources to assist you. Please check this site often for updates. Please note: If your students are graduating high school in 2006 or later, please advise them that USF will require the SAT with essay or ACT with the optional writing score prior to making an admissions decision.

Initial Eligibility Guidelines for Freshman Admission

To help you determine which of your students might be the best fit for USF, click here for a chart outlining the initial academic guidelines slated to be in effect from October 1, 2007 through March 1, 2008 for regular freshman admission to USF. Please note USF recalculates an academic grade point average for admission purposes, adding weights of one point for AP and IB courses and .5 for Honors and dual enrollment courses in which a grade of 'C' or better is earned. Other factors, such as strength of curriculum, questions regarding completion of required academic units, notable grade trends, status as first-generation-to-college students from an economically or educationally disadvantaged community and/or a record of positive accomplishments or negative personal conduct, may warrant a more comprehensive review by University personnel. These guidelines are subject to change without notice based on space availability in the freshman class.
