Q.  How do I apply?

A.  Use the USF online application to provide all the information and documents we will need to consider you for admission. If you are admitted to a program you will need to have official transcripts and test scores sent to USF, but we can make a provisional decision based on the unofficial documents you provide through your application.

Q.  What are the application deadlines?

A. Each graduate program has its own application deadline for each semester it offers admission. So please see the List of Graduate Programs to find the deadlines for your program. The deadlines for international applicants applying from outside the U.S. may be earlier than for U.S. applicants or international applicants currently on a student visa in the U.S.

Q.  What tests are required?

A. Each graduate program determines what standardized tests are required for admission. So please see the List of Graduate Programs to find your program and information about test requirements.

Also, international applicants typically have to provide test scores to show proficiency in the English language. Details about this requirement can be found on our Application Requirements page.

Q.  Where do I send my test scores?

A. In most cases you should ask the testing service to send your official scores to the University of South Florida Admissions Office. However, some programs require that they be send to the department or to a centralized application service. Details about this requirement can be found on our Application Requirements webpage.

In addition, you are encouraged to upload a copy of your test score reports through the online application. Although this report is considered "unofficial" it can help us make a provisional decision and match your scores to your application.

Q. What GPA is required for admission?

A. Each graduate program determines what criteria are used in the admission review process. So please see the List of Graduate Programs to find your program and information about test requirements. Graduate programs are competitive and they receive many more applications than they can accommodate. Meeting the minimum criteria does not guarantee admission to a program.

Q.  When will I hear if I have been accepted?

A. Some programs review applications on a "rolling" basis and they will make a decision soon after the application is complete. Other programs use a "pooled" process and wait until after the application deadline to review the whole group of complete applications. Please contact your program to determine how they review the applications and when you can expect a decision.

Q.  What are the tuition and fees?

Q. Is Financial Aid available?

A. Yes. For information visit the University Scholarships & Financial Aid Services website and the Assistantships & Financial Aid page of the Admissions website.

Q.  Are graduate assistantships available?

A. Many academic departments offer graduate assistantships for teaching, research or other responsibilities. Please contact the department to learn about the availability, requirements, and how to apply. Q. How do I pay my tuition and fees?

A. The charges that you acquire through registration and other University services, fines, etc. are maintained on your student account. You will not receive a bill for your registration. You should check your account in OASIS after transactions, before deadlines, and periodically to manage your account and avoid late fees. Q. When do I have to pay for classes?

A. The deadline to pay your tuition and fees is typically the last day of the first week of the semester. View Registration and Payment Deadlines on the Cashier's website.

Q.  How do I register for my classes?

A. If you are admitted to USF prior to the start of a registration period you will receive an email telling you when your eligibility period starts. Regular registration typically ends on the Friday before the first day of the semester. Late registration is possible during the first week of classes, but you will be charged a $100 late fee. If you have registered prior to the start of the semester, then you may add, drop or change courses during the first week of classes and not be charged a late fee. USF students can search for classes via the Office of the Registrar's website and register for classes through OASIS (Online Access Student Information System).
