Why Choose USF?

USF Faculty

As a graduate student, your interaction with the faculty will likely extend beyond the student-instructor relationship. Whether your professors will be guiding your research or helping you find internships or employment, you should select a program that has faculty who are active scholars in your field of interest.

As you absorb the current knowledge and methods of inquiry and analysis in your field, you will be expected to integrate, or in some cases, pursue new knowledge – pure, applied, or professional practice. In some programs this will take the form of course assignments or independent study. In other programs students are required to write a masters thesis or doctoral dissertation which will be overseen and evaluated by a mentor and research committee. The relationship with your research mentor is critical to your success as a graduate student.

Your assessment as an applicant in research programs will depend, in part, on whether there are professors in the department who have background in your field of interest. Visit faculty webpages to see if USF offers the expertise you seek.
