Requirements & Deadlines

English Proficiency

All international applicants for whom English is not the native tongue must provide proof of competence in the English language.

International applicants from non-English speaking countries must provide a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 taken within 2 years of the desired term of entry or a minimum TOEFL score of 79 (internet-based test) or 550 (written test) or PTEA of 53. If you are from one of the English speaking countries listed below, you are not required to submit TOEFL, IELTS or PTEA scores.

NOTE: Positive results on the SAT (480+ on Evidence-Based Reading & Writing) or ACT (English 17+ and Reading 19+) may be used to waive the TOEFL/IELTS/PTEA requirement. Please note that meeting the minimum scores to waive the TOEFL/IELTS/PTEA requirement does not guarantee admission to the University of South Florida.

Applicants who are unable to meet this requirement should contact INTO University of South Florida for information on its Academic English program for international students.

INTO University of South Florida also offers Undergraduate Pathways programs for international applicants.
