"Sonata of Puzzles” by Professor Baljinder Sekhon Premieres in Taiwan

Assistant Professor of Composition Baljinder Sekhon's work Sonata of Puzzles for saxophone and piano receives its Taiwanese premiere by saxophonist Pin-Hua Chen and pianist I-An Chen at the National Recital Hall in Taipei, Taiwan on October 6, 2017.

Sonata of Puzzles is a saxophone sonata commissioned by 57 of the leading saxophonists around the world. Since its completion as part of the Global Première Consortium Commissioning Project, of which Sekhon is co-founder, it has been featured at major national and international conferences and concerts around the world, including the North American Saxophone Alliance National Conference, Eursax 2017, US Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium, the Villa Lobos International Chamber Music Festival, Palmela Saxophone Festival, 2016 Vienna Saxophone Festival, and was featured in concerts at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in May 2017 and the National Gallery of Art in January 2017.

In addition, the work has already been released on two commercial recordings. These include the release "Puzzles" on Albany Records and a release by the AiDuo in Europe. Sheet music for Sonata of Puzzles is distributed by Glass Tree Press (ASCAP) and AvA Musical Editions.
