Vehicle Tag & Title

Original Tag and Registration:

All vehicles (new or used) must be registered and titled by the Dealership under Chapter 320 of the Florida Statute at the time of purchase to the University of South Florida Board of Trustees.  The fee for registration and title should be included in the cost of the vehicle. If the dealer is resistant to this policy contact Procurement Services.

The original paper title and a copy of the registration should be sent to Procurement Services on the campus making the purchase for records keeping.

Note Trailer Purchases:                                                                                                                 Trailer exceeding 2,000 gvw require titling and registration.                                                    Trailers 1,999 gvw and below require registration only.

Renewal Tag:

Florida State titled vehicles are established with permanent registration terms. If at any time you receive a notice to renew, please contact Procurement Services.

 

Replacement Tag or Title (existing vehicles):

To request a replacement Tag or Title (in the event of damage or loss), contact the Procurement Agent on your campus responsible for vehicles via e-mail with the following information:

Procurement will produce a letter that the Department can take to the DMV where payment is made via P-Card for the replacement documents. Once the replacement tag/title is received, a copy needs to be sent to Procurement services.

Sale/Salvage of the Vehicle:

1.  Complete an Asset Relief Request Entry for review and approval.                                        2.  Once approved Department will receive instructions from the Asset Relief Review Board to follow for Sale/Salvage.                                                                                                                      3.  Procurement can retrieve and sign off on the title for transfer/sale/surplus.  Contact the Procurement Agent on your campus responsible for vehicles.
