Construction

Construction at the University of South Florida is administered by Facilities, Planning and Construction (FPC.)

Major Construction including Construction Management, Architects and Engineering services is arranged solely through FPC.

Minor Construction involving any change to a University owned structure, with the exception of repairs, must go through the Space Impact Process.  FPC manages contracts for many types of minor repairs.

Departments other than Facilities Planning & Construction must attach an approved Space Impact form attached to any requisition submitted.

Construction to spaces not under the administration of Facilities Management, such as Residence Halls, and rented offices, do not require the Space Impact form.

Examples of work requiring Space Impact approval include:

  • Electrical, plumbing or a/c installation
  • Changes involving an intrusion to part of the building structure such as moving a wall, removing ceiling tile, adding a door, or putting a hole in the wall for a cable
  • Installing or removing bollard posts
  • Sidewalk renovation
  • Painting
  • Changing floor covering (e.g. carpet to tile)
