Sonia Schmitt is executive director for business and industry engagement in the College of Business at USF and a visiting professor in the Marketing Department.
Sonia reports to the dean in directing the development of the college's catalog of services for the business community. She also creates new executive education opportunities for the college.
Schmitt has 20 years' corporate experience at Fortune 100 firms in the Washington area and has held senior director positions at some of that region's top employers: Lockheed Martin, Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), and Northrop Grumman. She also worked five years in international training and development at The World Bank and was involved in a Cisco-funded startup. Her background includes marketing of technologies, professional services, enterprise IT, cyber security, and training. In addition to her industry experience, Schmitt has worked in academia since 1995 as an adjunct faculty member at George Mason University's School of Management and George Washington University's Department of Engineering Management.
Schmitt has an MBA, a doctorate in marketing of technology, an MS in engineering management, and a BS in mathematics. She completed the Senior Executive Fellowship and Senior Executives in National and International Security programs at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government and the Market Strategies Executive Education Course at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
