Master of Science in Marketing

Overview

The Master of Science in Marketing is a 33 semester-hour program designed for individuals who want to enhance career opportunities and options by completing a specialized graduate degree in marketing. For the professional currently employed in marketing, the degree offers the opportunity to enhance overall knowledge skills and abilities together with in-depth preparation in such specific areas as market research, supply chain management, marketing communications, or social marketing. For those seeking to prepare for a career in marketing, the program provides a solid graduate level introduction to the field. The MS in Marketing offers sufficient preparation to qualify the graduate for adjunct teaching in community colleges and AACSB and SACS-accredited institutions. For a small number of students, the MS in Marketing is expected be a stepping stone to the PhD.

The MS in Marketing is designed for individuals who:

Students with no academic preparation in business must complete coursework in statistics and marketing before beginning study for the MS in Marketing. This requirement can be met by completion of QMB 6305, Managerial Decision Analysis, or an equivalent graduate or undergraduate course, and MAR 6815, Marketing Management, an equivalent graduate course, or two undergraduate courses in marketing.

Students who have completed an undergraduate degree in a business discipline other than marketing at an AACSB-accredited institution within five years preceding admission to the program may be eligible to waive the statistics requirement, but must complete MAR 6815 or its equivalent at the graduate level or two courses in marketing at the undergraduate level.

Students who have completed an undergraduate degree in marketing at an AACSB-accredited institution within five years preceding admission to the program may be eligible to waive all prerequisites.
