Alumni Spotlight - Kerryann Kauffold

MS in Management ('10)

Kerryann Kauffold, who graduated with a master's degree in management ('10) from the College of Business , chose USF because of its outstanding leadership and organizational effectiveness program. She completed her first master's degree in German and European studies from Georgetown University. It was during this time that she had the opportunity to work side by side with U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, who was teaching at Georgetown after her time in office.

"My original dream was to be one of her students. I was so excited to be one of her students and was looking forward to that," said Kauffold. Instead of simply learning from her in the classroom, however, I was chosen as one of two research and teaching assistants from a group of more than 80 applicants."

"I couldn't believe it. I was going to be working for the woman I had idolized for so long," Kauffold added.

Kauffold has participated in the Presidential Management Fellowship, a program for future government leaders. She spent two years working for the U.S. Department of Justice and even traveled to Iraq to assist with preparations for the Iraqi trials of Saddam Hussein.

Kauffold, who also earned a bachelor's degree in international political science and German from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, now works as a consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton, providing regional expertise and insight for the military.
