Career counselors are trained professionals with expertise in career planning, career assessment, and job search strategies. A career counselor will help you help yourself. Our services will help you identify and clarify your career path, recognize your options, decide on appropriate strategies, show you how to access a wealth of resources, and coach you through the career development process. We provide a safe, encouraging and non-judgmental environment that allows you to dream, plan and implement your career goal.
Career counselors do not make decisions for you. Whether you are a new alumnus or re-careering, their mission is to empower you with the knowledge you'll need to assess, develop and manage your own career. You will have up to four appointments with your assigned career counselor. In the collaborative process, the sessions will be designed to establish "goal alignment". Expect each follow-up appointment to focus on a particular action or issue that you've both decided you need to address to help you in your career-related concern. There is a great deal of learning that takes place outside of the appointments, as you explore career options components of a successful job search, refine your résumé, etc. Be prepared to do research!
