Learn more about Field Experience: all of our educator preparation programs have a field experience component included within them that occurs after admission to the College of Education and prior to the final internship.
Types of Field Experience
Depending on your specific program, this field experience may be titled: practicum, early field experience, methods course, level one or level two internship, microteach, or pre-internship;
Purpose for Field Experience
The purpose of field experience is to allow the student time in the classroom to develop his or her professional skills and a rational view of education. Students may begin by observing the classroom teaching and journaling then move to working with tutoring individual students, facilitating small group activities, and instructing the entire class when appropriate.
