Bachelor of Science
There are two undergraduate programs of study to choose from which include coursework and extensive experiences in elementary school settings to enable the integration of theory with teaching practice. The first is the Elementary Teacher Residency Program and the second is the Elementary Education Cohort Program.
Master of Arts in Teaching
The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Elementary Education program is designed for those who have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a field outside of education and who wish to become certified teachers in grades kindergarten through six. It is a full time, 4- semester program with new cohorts beginning each Fall semester. Students may also be admitted in the spring or summer semesters.
Master of Arts
The MA Program in Elementary Education is designed for professional educators who seek to further their knowledge and expertise in the field of elementary education. Students will select a curriculum emphasis from an elementary content area with a goal of proficiency in teaching elementary students. This program is best suited for educators who are currently teaching in pre-kindergarten through grade 12 classrooms.
The Teacher Leadership for Student Learning Certificate is comprised of four courses. Within the certificate coursework, teachers learn about teacher leadership as well as the skills needed to engage in and lead teacher research, coach for student learning, facilitate high quality job-embedded learning at their schools and develop a lens of equity. This program is best suited for those currently teaching in pre-kindergarten-grade 12 settings.
Doctor of Philosophy
The Elementary Education PhD Program is designed for educators who are interested in working at the college level, within school districts, or in local, state, regional, national, or international agencies. The program includes a distinctive approach to understanding elementary education practice through research and innovation that unites advocacy, equity, community engagement, rigorous intellectual inquiry, and teacher leadership.
