Admission Requirements

The MAT Master of Arts in Teaching: Middle Grades (5-9) Mathematics Education

To be accepted into the program, students must meet the following requirements:

  1. Have passed the Florida Subject Area Exam in Mathematics for grades 5-9
    OR
  2. Have completed at least 18 credit hours in mathematics at or above the level of college algebra.

Additionally, we may require individuals with limited experiences working with students to observe in a middle grades school environment for 3-4 weeks prior to being fully admitted in the program.

The Master of Arts in Teaching Program: Secondary (6-12) Mathematics Education

To be accepted into the program, students must meet the following requirements:

  1. Have completed 21 credit hours in mathematics at or above the level of college algebra and a passing score on the Florida Subject Exam in Mathematics grades 6-12 (FTCE)
    OR
  2. Have completed at least 30 credit hours in mathematics at or above the level of College Algebra.
