FAQ

When people first learn about the iTeach Lounge they often have a list of questions about our procedures and daily operation. Below are the most frequently asked questions about the lounge.  If you have a question that is not listed below, please feel free to contact us.

Can I rent equipment?

Yes, faculty, staff and students are eligible to rent equipment. Please note that only faculty, staff, graduate assistants (GAs), teaching assistants (TAs), and graduate students who are defending theses and dissertations may leave the iTeach Lounge with equipment. All other students who rent laptops, headphones, mice, and chargers etc. must return them before leaving the Lounge. All equipment rentals must be returned within a two week period. Rental extensions are not guaranteed and must be negotiated with management based on availability.

What time does the iTeach Lounge close?

The iTeach Lounge is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays. The iTeach Lounge recognizes all holidays and university closures observed by USF.

Can I host a class in the iTeach Lounge?

Yes, the iTeach Lounge hosts classes throughout the year. All courses taught in the lounge must begin at 5:00 pm or later. Classes beginning earlier may interfere with our open use policy and prevent students from visiting freely throughout the day. If you are a facilitator looking to have class in the iTeach Lounge simply contact us Dr. Gianina S. Hayes with the date and time of your course prior to the beginning of the semester. If the dates and times requested are available we will add your course to our calendar.

Further details including how to contact Dr. Hayes and specific guidelines for the use of the iTeach Lounge are located in our usage guidelines. Please note the iTeach Lounge does not extend its hours during classes. The lounge is closed to the public after hours. Only class participants and facilitators are allowed in the Lounge during this time. Professors who facilitate after hours courses will be responsible for closing the Lounge after class. iTeach Lounge staff members are not responsible for facilitating courses after hours. It is the sole responsibility of the facilitator to teach the course once the lounge has closed.

Is food and drink permitted in the iTeach Lounge?

Yes, food and beverages are allowed in the iTeach Lounge. We also have a microwave and coffee maker for your convenience.

Why do I have to RSVP for iTeach Workshops?

Seating in the iTeach Lounge is limited. Having a headcount in advance allows us to adequately prepare for the number of individuals who will attend. Furthermore, we are an open use facility. This means several seats may already be filled by students who are studying. For further details click on our Workshops tab to learn how to subscribe to our mailing list and RSVP for our workshops.
