Advance Placement Summer Institute (APSI)

Hosted by the David C. Anchin Center, the 2017 Advanced Placement Summer Institute (APSI), Excellence in Education, offers a unique learning experience for teachers interested in expanding their knowledge of Advanced Placement (AP) course content, structure, and methodology. In addition, the workshops afford teachers the opportunity to interact with colleagues and to discuss issues and concerns surrounding the AP courses they will teach.
Participants are strongly encouraged to bring a laptop or tablet to use throughout the week. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available throughout the USF campus for APSI participants.
Our College Board consultants are coming from many different states and represent the best of the best. All are experienced, knowledgeable, inspiring and will give you a wealth of new tools, strategies, and resources for increasing your students' success and your teaching effectiveness. Our outstanding consultants will change the way you look at education!
APSI Registration opens March 1, 2017.
If you are a teacher in Hillsborough County School District and your school or the district is paying for your registration, tuition & parking please use your school district code during registration, which can be obtained from your school liaison.
If you are a College Board scholarship recipient you must email a copy of your scholarship award to Yashira Cabrera at firstname.lastname@example.org to receive a code to use at registration.
All other individuals must pay tuition and fees in full at time of registration.
Tuition is $600 per workshop. Registration fee is $60 (non-refundable)
*Chemistry and Environmental Science courses are $675 (includes a $75 lab fee).
Tuition for the institute includes the cost of instruction, texts, course specific materials & College Board materials.
Schools, School Districts or individuals will be billed the full amount if a registered participant does not show up for the program.
If you have registered for the institute and cancel 30 days or more before the event starts you will receive a full refund of the registration amount minus a $60 registration fee. If you cancel less than 30 days in advance of the institute there will be no refund.
Course Cancellation Policy
We reserve the right to cancel a course if enrollment is insufficient. Courses with insufficient enrollment will be canceled no later than June 1, 2017. All participants and schools will be notified if a course is canceled. Participants registered in a canceled course will receive a full refund. The reimbursement will be issued to the individual or school who paid the registration fee. We do not reimburse travel, lodging, or any other expenses associated with our institute in the case of a course cancellation.
Florida Partnership Scholarships may be awarded through your high school. Please check with your school's principal should your school be eligible. The College Board will work directly with eligible schools on scholarship availability and awards. The individual school districts and principals award partnership scholarships. The USF Summer Institute has no role in scholarship application, review, or awards. The Florida Partnership will notify us when a teacher receives a scholarship. Please consult with your school, district AP coordinator, or contact the Florida Partnership Office at 850-521-4917.
The College Board Fellows Program awards stipends to secondary teachers planning to teach AP courses in schools that serve minority students and/or economically disadvantaged students. The stipends assist teachers with the cost of attending an AP Summer Institute. Stipend applications are now entirely online. Please note that Fellowships may not be used for Pre-AP Summer Institutes.
This summer, College Board Fellows (College Board AP Redesign) will be offered a stipend of $1,000 to attend an AP Summer Institute. College Board Rural Fellows will receive $1,500 (which includes travel). The deadline for College Board Fellows application has been extended to February 1, 2017.

Weekly parking passes are required to park on campus. Please indicate at registration if you will need to purchase a weekly parking pass for $10. Parking Passes will be given upon check-in on the first day of APSI.
