Health Science majors (seniors or second semester juniors)

Must students be majors in the department in which the program is being offered?

Yes, it is for Health Science majors only.

Is a field placement an elective or requirement for majors?

It is an elective course. There are placements available which correspond to concentration areas, which include Biological Health Science, Aging Studies in Health Science, Social and Behavioral Health Science, Health Management, and Health Informatics.

Is there an application process?

Yes, only students who complete the prerequisite course have access to the application for placement. Upon satisfactory completion of the course, students receive information on the various placements.

Are there course prerequisites or other registration requirements?

Yes, students must first complete the Career Development for Health Science course (BSC 4933 - 1 credit) before they are allowed to apply for field placement opportunities. Once they complete that course, students may apply for opportunities in any semester.
