About

The University of South Florida's new Medical Engineering Department is an interdisciplinary bridge between the College of Engineering and the Morsani College of Medicine, which partners with Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa General Hospital, and other biomedical institutions in the Tampa Bay area.

Its unique structure facilitates research and academic interactions between engineers, scientists and clinicians to pursue medical discoveries, translational technologies,
and didactic learning experiences through MS and PhD programs in Biomedical
Engineering.

Research efforts of department and affiliate faculty are concentrated in:

  • biomedical imaging and bioelectronics
  • cell and tissue engineering
  • molecular medicine and drug delivery
  • neural and rehabilitation engineering

Welcome to the University of South Florida Biomedical Engineering (BME) Graduate Program. I am Dr. Robert Frisina, Chair of the Medical Engineering Department and Graduate Program Director. I look forward to meeting with you to plan your courses each semester, and can assist you in choosing a research advisor and committee for PhD students and those pursuing a master's degree with thesis.
