About Us

Educational Objectives

We have Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) for our Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Information Technology undergraduate degree programs. PEOs are broad statements that describe the career and professional accomplishments that the program is preparing graduates to achieve. These objectives describe the expected accomplishments of our graduates during the several years following graduation.

Computer Science

Objective 1: Our graduates will apply their knowledge and skills to succeed in their careers and/or obtain advanced degrees.

Objective 2: Our graduates will behave ethically and responsibly, and will remain informed and involved as full participants in their profession and society.

Objective 3: Our graduates will creatively solve problems, communicate effectively, and successfully function in diverse and inclusive multi-disciplinary teams.

Objective 4: Our graduates will apply principles and practices of computing grounded in mathematics and science to successfully complete software-related projects to meet customer business objectives and/or productively engage in research.

Computer Engineering

Objective 1: Our graduates will apply their knowledge and skills to succeed in their careers and/or obtain advanced degrees.

Objective 2: Our graduates will behave ethically and responsibly, and will remain informed and involved as full participants in their profession and society.

Objective 3: Our graduates will creatively solve problems, communicate effectively, and successfully function in diverse and inclusive multi-disciplinary teams.

Objective 4: Our graduates will apply principles and practices of computing grounded in mathematics and science to successfully complete hardware and/or software-related engineering projects to meet customer business objectives and/or productively engage in research.

CYBERSECURITY

Objective 1: Our graduates will apply their knowledge and skills to succeed in their careers and/or obtain an advanced degree.

Objective 2: Our graduates will behave ethically and responsibly, and will remain informed and involved as full participants in their profession and society..

Objective 3: Our graduates will creatively solve problems, communicate effectively, and successfully function in diverse and inclusive multi-disciplinary teams.

Objective 4: Our graduates will apply principles, best practices, and current techniques of cybersecurity to protect computing infrastructure, data, process, and people from adversaries and exposure.

Information Technology

Objective 1: Our graduates will apply their knowledge and skills to succeed in their careers and/or obtain an advanced degree.

Objective 2: Our graduates will behave ethically and responsibly, and will remain informed and involved as full participants in their profession and society.

Objective 4: Our graduates will apply principles and practices of information technology to identify, implement, and enable effective technologies and apply fundamental computing knowledge to solve information technology problems.

Our PEOs are reviewed every year at our annual Advisory Board meeting with input from our constituents. Our BS in Computer Science and BS in Computer Engineering PEOs were revised in fall 2006, spring 2007, spring 2011, spring 2012, fall 2018, and fall 2021. Our BS in Cybersecurity PEOs were defined in fall 2018 and revised in fall 2020 and fall 2021. Our BS in Information Technology PEOs were defined in summer 2014 and revised in fall 2019 and fall 2021. No PEO changes were recommended in the 2022 and 2023 Advisory Board meetings.
