Professors Dmitry Goldgof and Lawrence Hall along with Moffitt researcher Dr. Robert Gillies were granted United States Patent 9,940,709

Dr. Robert Gillies, Courtesy Professor and Martin Silberger Chair of Cancer Physiology, Director of the Center of Excellence in Cancer Imaging and Technology at Moffitt Cancer Center, along with Department of Computer Science and Engineering Professors Dmitry Goldgof and Lawrence Hall were granted the United States Patent 9,940,709 for "Systems and methods for diagnosing tumors in a subject by performing a quantitative analysis of texture-based features of a tumor object in a radiological image". The invention is part of long term ongoing collaboration between the Department of Computer Science and Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute on advanced computational approaches to cancer screening and diagnosis.
