Engineering Faculty Receive Research Achievement Awards

The College of Engineering at the University of South Florida recently announced the winners of the 2017 Outstanding Research Awards. The awards recognize scholarly accomplishments of national and international distinction made by faculty researchers through significant discovery and innovation, high impact publications, patents and technology transfer, prestigious research awards, contributions in leadership at the national and international level, and consistent / continuous research impact and productivity.


tansel yucelin

Tansel Yucelen, assistant professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department, received the Outstanding Junior Research Achievement Award.  Yucelen's research focuses on systems and controls and has been sponsored by NSF, NASA, DARPA, Air Force Office of Scientific Research, among others. He is currently focuses on the next generation of autonomous vehicles and robotic swarms. Learn more about his research.


dmitry goldgof

Dmitry Goldgof, professor and vice chair in the Computer Science and Engineering Department, received the Outstanding Research Achievement Award.  Goldgof's research is in the areas of medical image analysis, image and video procession, computer vision and pattern recognition.  He is a Fellow of IEEE and IAPR, and associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, and for the International Journal of Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence.  Learn more about his research.
