M.S. in Medical Sciences

The School of Biomedical Sciences at the USF Morsani College of Medicine offers eligible Honors College students a Guaranteed Admission Program (GAP) to the Pre-professional M.S. in Medical Sciences (MSP3).

The Honors MSP3 GAP is a direct entry program designed to assist USF's Honors College students seeking admission into a health professional school (e.g., MD, DO, DMD, DVM, PharmD). It will allow qualified students who are graduating from USF's Honors College guaranteed acceptance into the M.S. in Biomedical Sciences Pre-professional Program. The program aims to provide highly-qualified students interested in obtaining entry-level medical sciences education with a sound baccalaureate foundation for pursuing professional education through a special undergraduate curriculum and mentoring linked with a sound graduate education in Medical Sciences.

Why participate in the One-Year Pre-professional MSP3 GAP?
This one-year program consists of 32 credits (fall, spring, and summer) and is designed to assist students who are seeking admission into a health professional school or are looking to pursue a career in biomedical sciences, but will not be matriculating immediately upon completion of their bachelor's degree. Its unique curriculum is designed so that participants receive a solid foundation in the biomedical sciences that supplements their undergraduate coursework and better prepares them for future coursework in a graduate health profession program.

Each year, the MSP3 program receives approximately 1000 applications for 260 seats. This requires that the program be selective with admission. By participating in the GAP program, Honors College students who meet admission criteria will be guaranteed placement in one of the first 20 seats in the class.

What are the requirements?
The basic entrance requirements that direct entry students must meet include:
Additionally, students will be required to submit a personal statement, two letters of recommendation or evaluation (1 faculty/1 character), and provide documentation of community service. Students must be U.S. citizens or hold permanent resident status and have no history of disciplinary action.

Minimum score equivalencies between the old scoring scale and the revised scale can be found online at: http://www.ets.org/s/gre/pdf/concordance_information.pdf.
