Innovative Education Launches Mobile-Ready Online Course

Course Entirely Accessible Via Mobile Devices via the Canvas App

Shelley Stewart, Ph.D., Instructor and multimedia developer for Innovative Education, has developed what may be the first mobile-ready online course at USF.

"It is important to offer mobile-ready online courses because students are always on the go. They are busy and often juggling multiple tasks," said Stewart. "Having access to courses on mobile devices opens up opportunities for reading, reviewing and learning while on the move."

The undergraduate course, titled Web Design Technologies (LIS 4365), is entirely accessible via mobile devices (iOS or Android) via the Canvas app. The course is part of the Bachelor of General Studies concentration in Information Studies. It is also a required course in the undergraduate Information Studies major for the School of Information, College of Arts and Sciences, a STEM program. It introduces basic knowledge and skills for web programming in Javascript, and is offered through the School of Information in the College of Arts and Sciences.
