USF Improves in National Rankings for Online LearningUSF features three programs ranked inside the Top 30 nationally
TAMPA, Fla. (Jan. 8, 2015) – The University of South Florida is improving its standing as a national leader in online education, according to new rankings by U.S. News & World Report.
U.S. News ranks USF's online graduate engineering, education and business programs among the top 30 in the nation for 2015. The rankings are based on statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school's faculty, research and students, as well as expert opinions about program excellence.
USF's graduate online engineering program ranks 17th overall, up from 26th in 2014. USF's program ranks first among public universities in Florida and is the only institution in the State University System to improve its ranking from the previous year.
USF's graduate education program ranks 20th, making a significant jump from 36th last year and 47th in 2013.
U.S. News ranks USF's graduate online business program 27th nationally and as the second highest among Florida's public universities. USF St. Petersburg's online graduate MBA program is also ranked 32nd overall by U.S. News.
"Ensuring that students have access to education in a way that fits their life and schedule is essential to the mission of the University of South Florida," said USF System Provost Ralph Wilcox. "But even more important is ensuring that our educational offerings are of the highest quality, whether on campus, online, or in classrooms across the globe. Being recognized by U.S. News and World Report in this regard is a humbling validation of our hard work."
USF currently offers 27 graduate degree programs and 42 graduate certificates available completely online. In addition, nine undergraduate degree programs are available partially online.
Currently 63 percent of USF students take at least one online course per year. 18 percent of student credit hours generated on the USF Tampa campus come from distance learning courses.
The University of South Florida is a high-impact, global research university dedicated to student success.
