The Graduate Certificate in Health Information is intended for those interested in careers in Health Sciences Librarianship or Health Information. Professionals with training in Health Information Services and Management are able to take advantage of growing employment opportunities in academic medical centers; hospitals and health care systems; federal, state and local government; private corporations and other health-resources centers.
The Certificate is offered fully online.
A Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredit university with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

15 total credit hours for the certificate. Nine hours of required core classes
- LIS 6475 – Health Sciences Librarianship
- LIS 5631 – Health Information Sources
- LIS 5418 – Health Informatics
Students must choose from the following courses for the remaining 6 credits.
- LIS 6946 – Supervised Field Work
- LIS 5937 – Social Media for Information Professionals
- LIS 6630 – Information Sources & Services in Science & Technology
Other electives as approved by Certificate advisor.
Credit Toward Graduate Degree
Course credits earned in the certificate may be applied to a graduate degree with departmental approval.
International students must submit a TOEFL score when English is not the native language.
