Tech Fee

Investing in technology used to enhance instructional resources for students and faculty

Overview

In 2009, the University Board of Trustees, in accordance with Florida Statutes Section 1009.24 (13) authorized and established a technology fee to be paid by all students. The statute states "Each university board of trustees may establish a technology fee of up to 5 percent of the tuition per credit hour. The revenue from this fee shall be used to enhance instructional technology resources for students and faculty."

Technology fee is used to pay for licensing and support costs annually across the institution. Each USF campus contributes a portion based on their percent of student credit hours generated. Health, St. Petersburg, and Sarasota have established processes for allocating their remaining tech fee funds. Technology fee funds generated by the Tampa campus are allocated by ITMC for use by OneUSF.
