Keys to College

Keys to College is a STEM based tutor/mentoring program for middle school students. The Florida Math & Science Initiative is the lead partner with the University of South Florida Jim Walter Partnership Center and Hillsborough County Public Schools. The Keys to College program is designed to meet the specific interests and challenges facing the students in the neighborhoods of the middle schools. The trained tutors in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields will be working with students identified by the teachers in areas of math and science.

The tutors will assist the middle school students on how to tackle problems, to critically think on viable solutions, and on how to become positive role models that will provide them the keys to further their education. Complementing the program will be business and community mentors that will provide mini workshops on career path opportunities. The pilot program is projected to start in early 2016.
