Institutional Effectiveness is responsible for reporting academic and administrative assessments to the Florida Board of Governors and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Our primary method of collecting and storing assessment reports from faculty and staff is through our System for Assessment Management (SAM).
What is Assessment?
There are many definitions, but one is: the systematic and methodologically sound examination of student learning outcomes for the purpose of program improvement.
While the primary purpose of assessment is to improve student learning and the functioning of administrative offices, it is also required by both the State of Florida Statute and our accrediting body, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

The institution identifies expected outcomes, assesses the extent to which it achieves these outcomes, and provides evidence of improvement based on analysis of the results. (Institutional Effectiveness)
The State of Florida Board of Governors (BOG) Policy 8.016
Requires all undergraduate academic programs to develop and implement an Academic Learning Compact that must contain student learning outcomes for a minimum of three areas, critical think skills, communication skills, and content/discipline knowledge and skills. Current Academic Learning Compacts (ALC) for all undergraduate programs are available for new and prospective students.
