Tesla's Sustainability Initiatives

May 22nd, 2017

When people generally think of automobile companies, "sustainable" may not be the first word that comes to mind. Tesla has set out to change that way of thinking. From battery farms to electric cars, Tesla is working to transform the power grid.

"Tesla owners enjoy the benefit of charging at home so they never have to visit a gas station or spend a cent on gasoline," Tesla's website details. "Tesla is not just an automaker, but also a technology and design company with a focus on energy innovation."

CEO Elon Musk has done his fair share for sustainability thus far, projecting that Tesla's new energy storage systems "could become a bigger business for the company than selling cars." The company's mission is to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.

Tesla not only produces chargeable vehicles, but also manufactures solar panels and Powerwall batteries for a more sustainable home environment.

"Our goal here is to fundamentally change the way the world uses energy," Musk explained. "At the extreme scale."
