FY2017 Research Incentive Program
The USF System's research incentive program rewards our faculty members for their extra effort in submitting proposals for high-value research grants. Faculty can earn a $400 incentive award for:
- Each proposal, submitted as PI, for a federal grant in the amount of $250,000 or more, with full indirect (F&A).
- Each interdisciplinary proposal in the amount of $250,000 or more, with full indirect (F&A) submitted with a Co-PI from another college/campus/unit.
The incentives will be deposited in the faculty member's Research Incentive Account (RIA) on a quarterly basis and can be used to support travel and other research-related expenses. These incentives can be combined, allowing faculty members who are proactive in applying for high-value, interdisciplinary grants to earn substantial additional resources to support their research activities. The incentives will be awarded to the PI as listed on the grant application, and we encourage PIs leading groups of colleagues across the USF System to share the incentive award with their colleagues on those projects, as appropriate.
This incentive program is funded through the Office of the President and USF Research & Innovation, initiated on July 1, 2016 and will conclude on June 30, 2017. We hope you will participate in the program, both in submitting your own grants and in promoting these incentives to colleagues.
The Research Incentive Program will conclude on June 30, 2018. Proposals submitted between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018 are eligible for the incentive awards and will be distributed on a quarterly basis.
NOTE: To qualify for an interdisciplinary proposal award, a Co-PI from a different college
needs to be involved in the research.
