The Tuition Deferment Program is set up through USF and the VA. Due to VA payments being delayed at times, a tuition deferment gives the student and the VA an extra 60 days past the start of the semester to pay for a student's tuition and fees.
Who is eligible?
- All students (veterans and dependents) who apply for VA Education Benefits through our office. A student needs to apply for benefits every semester in order to receive a tuition deferment.
When is the cut-off for receiving a deferment?
- You have to submit your Clockwork Education Benefit Request to the Office of Veterans Services by 4:50 PM on the last day of add/drop week Ithe first week of classes). If the submission is late, you are not eligible for a deferment and could be dropped from your classes and receive late fees. As long as you submit your benefits to our office by the end of add/drop week, you will receive a tuition deferment.
What if a student receives late fees, but received a deferment from the Office of Veterans Services?
- Fill out a Late Fee Payment Waiver. Turn that form into our office for processing so that we can advocate on your behalf and have the fees removed.
