I.   INTRODUCTION (Purpose and Intent)

The University of South Florida System (“University”) encourages research and creative scholarship as integral parts of intellectual and professional enrichment for faculty, staff, and students. Such activity adds to the general good of society and enables the University to become a source of intellectual leadership in the State and in the Nation.

II.  STATEMENT OF POLICY

All proposals and other requests to outside agencies for funding for specific projects must be routed through the Division of Sponsored Research, a division under the Office of Research.

All requests from an outside agency to perform a funded project that involves (1) participation by faculty, staff or students or (2) the use of campus facilities are to be referred to the Director of Sponsored Research.

Funded and unfunded projects that involve human subjects, animal subjects, or biohazards are to be reviewed prior to the beginning date of the project by the appropriate institutional review boards which are facilitated by the Division of Research Compliance, Office of Research.

Policies, procedures, and guidelines to be followed in proposing and conducting research are available on the Office of Research web site (http://www.research.usf.edu or http://www.research.usf.edu/rrpp.htm).  Hardcopies are also available from the Office of Research and Divisions.
