I would like to create an online course, what should I do first?


In order to find out about online courseware offered by USF and how to use it, register for one of our VITAL faculty workshops and/or contact Shauna Schullo to schedule an appointment with a VITAL faculty consultant. Contact Glen Parker, Scholar (Web CT & Blackboard) Administrator to set up a course.

    The Wellspring is a collaborative project from Instructional Systems Inc. and members of the Teachers College, Columbia University community. Their Frequently Asked Questions relate to Distance Education in general.

  • Overview of Distance Learning Technologies
    From "A Teacher's Guide to Distance Learning" this overview chapter states that the various technologies used in distance learning can be roughly divided into four categories: print, audio (voice), computer (data), and video. The Teacher's Guide was written by Dr. Ann Barron, Florida Center for Instructional Technology College of Education, University of South Florida.

    A Conceptual Planning Tool Developed by University of Maryland University College for the University System of Maryland Institute for Distance Education. The Overview section offers a matrix of three distance education models.

  • Distance Learning: An Introduction
    This article by Michael Yoakam is taken from a publication titled "Distance Learning: An Introduction" It was a collaborative effort of the Indiana University Center for Excellence in Education and the AT&T Center for Excellence in Distance Learning. It is available through the IPSE - Indiana Partnership for Statewide Education Distance Learning - collection of articles, part of the information available from the Indiana Higher Education Telecommunication System.
