Linking from your Blackboard Course to your WebCT Course

The easiest way to redirect your students from a Blackboard course to a WebCT course is to disable all features except the Announcements in your Blackboard Course and place a link to http://webct.acomp.usf.edu in the Announcement area.

This link needs to open a new browser window ; otherwise WebCT will be displayed within Blackboard - and as a consequence will not work properly.

Step 1: Disable areas in Blackboard

Access your Blackboard course
Click on the Control Panel button
Course Settings under Course Options
Area Availability
Select all the radio buttons in the Disable column (notice that you cannot disable the Announcements)
Scroll down to the very bottom and click on Submit
You should receive a "Receipt" - click OK

Return to your course and you should see only the Announcement button (and Resources, Course Map, Control Panel)

Step 2: Create Announcement with Link

Click on the Control Panel button
Click on Announcements under Content Areas
Add Announcement
Enter a Subject and a message:

Example Subject: Please go to WebCT for the [Your Class] course site

Example Message:

Follow the link below to access the WebCT course site for [Your Class].

<a href="http://webct.acomp.usf.edu" target="_blank" >http://webct.acomp.usf.edu

</a> .

You will have to log in again. Use your WebCT ID [(as handed out in class)] and your Social Security Number without hyphens or spaces.

Select the HTML radio button underneath the text entry box
Under Options select YES next to: Always show this announcement on the course's main page.
Click on Submit
