USF World Statement Regarding Recent Events in Istanbul

The University of South Florida is deeply saddened by the terror attacks at the Istanbul Ataturk Airport on Tuesday, June 28, 2016. Our sympathies go out to the Turkish people, our Turkish community here at USF and all members of our community here and abroad who may have been impacted by these events.

We recognize that members of the USF System community may be traveling internationally during the summer months and we want to reassure you that USF World monitors global events and maintains a 24/7 International Assistance Line (1-813-317-5815) for your use. If you are currently traveling abroad or planning to do so in the near future Ben Chamberlain, (bchamberlain@usf.edu), International Risk and Safety Officer, in USF World can assist you in ensuring you have appropriately considered your safety. As a reminder, please refer to the USF related student and business travel guidelines and services on our website.

We also encourage individuals traveling abroad to enroll in the U.S. Department of State's Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) https://step.state.gov/step/ to receive the latest travel updates and to obtain updated information on security within your destination country. By enrolling, U.S. citizens make it easier for the Embassy to make contact in case of emergency.

Wishing the USF community safe travels,

Roger Brindley

Vice Provost and System Vice President, USF World
