View form space: Hurricane Irma approaches Florida.

USF Emergency Management released their annual update to the USF Hurricane Guide for the start of the Atlantic Hurricane Season. USF community members are encouraged to review the guide and become prepared as we enter into Hurricane Season.

Highlighted changes in this year's update:

  • FEMA guideance has changed where you are now expected to maintain a disaster supply kit that can last you for seven days. The previous standard was 72 hours.
  • Hurricane Season has a new unoffical start date of May 15. The National Hurricane Center will begin issuing routine Atlantic tropical weather outlooks on May 15, rather than June 1.
  • Updates to links and numbers for certain resources, primairly due to consolidation of USF's campuses.
