BIOGRAPHY

A Tampa native and USF alum, Deana is a second year M.A. student and Graduate Instructor in the Communication Department at the University of South Florida. She has served in several student-facing positions, including her current role as a Public Speaking Instructor, a former Teaching Assistant for Introduction to Communication, an English Teacher in the Hillsborough County Public School System, and an Orientation Leader. Her research focuses on communication theory’s application to educational realms, specifically the K-12 educational system and higher education. Through her work, her primary goal has been to use her experiences to find ways that all students’ voices be heard, specifically those most vulnerable populations at the margins.

Deana has also delved into communications and marketing as a Communication Coordinator at the Catholic Student Center at USF as well as a Marketing Intern at the USF Office of Orientation.

Whatever she is working on, her great love for people, relationship building, mentorship, education, and lifelong learning is always at the forefront.
