Story Strong: The Libraries Build Communities Initiative

Story Strong

The Libraries Build Communities initiative is our grant-funded collaboration with the Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library, Pasco County Public Library Cooperative, and the Temple Terrace Public Library designed to deliver therapeutic reading services together with community-based programming. Service delivery begins February 2021.

This project was funded under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Florida’s LSTA program is administered by the Department of State’s Division of Library and Information Services.

For FY2020-21, 74% of the total costs for the Libraries Build Communities/Story Strong program ($160,233) is supported by federal money; 26% of this program ($55,581) is supported by state money; 0% of this program ($0) is supported by local money; 0% of this program ($0) is supported by other money. The total budget of the project is $215,814.

We help offer weekly programs in collaboration with our community partners to help improve the lives of those who live in our community. Our services are delivered through evidence-based reading lists, online book clubs, and community-based library programming.
