Mathematics BA/MA

This program is designed for superior students having a solid background in high school mathematics and the ability to handle a fast-paced, challenging program leading to Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Mathematics in four to five years. Students must fulfill all requirements for both the Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and the Master of Arts in Mathematics.

For admission to the program, a student must have

  • completed at least 30 hours of college credit, including 8 hours of 3000-level or above mathematics courses;
  • at least a 3.0 GPA for all college courses; and
  • at least a 3.5 GPA for all mathematics courses taken at the 3000-level or above.

To apply for admission, send an email to the Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics stating your qualifications and desire to enter the program. Students should apply by the start of their junior year.

Students in this program may lose eligibility for undergraduate scholarships such as Bright Futures, but they become eligible to apply for a graduate teaching assistantship once he or she has completed the undergraduate mathematics major courses.
