Bio

Jewel Okraku Mantey is a Ghanaian, born and raised in the capital of Ghana, West Africa. She graduated from the University of Ghana with a Master’s degree in International Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts in Geography & Resource Development and Sociology. After her master’s degree, she worked with Ghana’s Office of the President where she developed keen interest in politics. This strengthened her knowledge in governance, policy making and analytical skills that will serve useful in her educational journey at University of South Florida. Jewel is currently pursuing a PhD in Politics and International Affairs at the University of South Florida, School of Interdisciplinary Global Studies. She is excited about joining the cohort and learning from some of the University’s leading research clusters at cutting edge of theory and practice.

Jewel is a xenophile which allows her to contribute in a dynamic and multicultural environment. She is always ready to learn and embrace the cultures and customs of others. This trait has driven her to participate in several volunteer services locally and abroad. She also likes travelling and social networking. She wishes to advance and engage in programs pertaining to diversity, equity and inclusion.
