Nicole C. Ruiz earned her Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Master of Science in Intelligence and National Security Studies from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). In her conference presentations and research, she has advocated for the use of economic methodology in intelligence analysis and expanding the accessibility of defense economics. Her Master’s thesis explored the potential of using economic methodology to understand alliance dynamics, using Korean War alliances as a case study. As she pursues her doctorate, she plans to expand her past research in defense economics and focus on the dynamics of various international collective action efforts. She hopes this line of research will contribute in some small way to more effective international cooperation and stability.
