Mission is children and family development, crime prevention and commerce growth.

- Research/Survey.
- Open to students/classes proposing a student that can be based at the UACDC involving door to door canvassing.

- Assist with community presentations on HT.
- Attending presentations and helping with set-ups.

- Assistance with designing flyers and brainstorming about how to increase awareness about HT.

There were less clear connections to Sociology, but a great deal of interest on their end in attracting Sociology students who might serve as mentors and tutors. They offer training for mentors, which is a unique opportunity for students to have “formal” training for future jobs.

Offers a variety of academic and social services to middle- and high-school aged girls and young women as a way of preventing them from entering the juvenile justice system.

Goal/Mission:
Provides unpaid academic study-related work assignments that allow students to explore career options in addition to developing personal and professional skills. This internship can prepare students for a career with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
Special Programs/Opportunities for Sociology:
Most assignments are ride-a-longs with deputies in the Districts but student interns may also be used in a support role in any of the various assignments. The internship coordinator/supervisor, the faculty mentor, and the student intern should work out the details of the assignments and their learning objectives in advance of enrolling.

To increase access and opportunities for Latinos and influence the systems that serve them.
Special Programs/Opportunities for Sociology:
- Provides services that build the capacity of parents to engage in their children’s education.
- Provides information and referral services to families and individuals seeking resources to address health, housing, education, and economic adversities.
- Provides education programs (in Spanish) to improve knowledge and behaviors around health-conscious shopping and food choices among Latinos.

Film production to serve community needs.

Interns will gain experience in video production and editing as well as the distribution and marketing of videos. Interns will gain training in Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, Final Cut Pro X which are necessary to produce promotional videos, public service announcements, and community impact films.
