Robert (Buddy) Hedrick is an Instructor of Classics in the World Languages Department at USF. He received his Ph.D. in Classics from Florida State University in 2015.
His research focuses on the concept of enargeia (the ancient term for "vividness/self-evidence") and the nexus of sensation and imagery in ancient philosophy, rhetoric, and poetry. Buddy teaches a variety of classes on Roman and Greek literature, mythology, and languages, as well as USF's online course on Medical Terminology.
He has published an Epicurean interpretation of the end of Virgil's Aeneid in addition to several book reviews, and given conference papers on Plato, Epicurus, Aristophanes, Lucretius, Virgil, and Statius. Buddy and his wife, Ashley, live in Plant City.
Dr. Hedrick received the USF Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award for 2020.
