Coaching

The USF Division of Health Professions Advising is looking for enthusiastic and responsible students to participate in the 2023-2025 USF Health Professions Coaching Program. This 2-year program is open to current students who:

  1. Are interested in pursuing one of the following health profession areas: Medicine (MD and DO), Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, Optometry, Podiatry, Chiropractic Medicine and Anesthesiology Assistant.
  2. Will have started USF as a transfer student in either the Spring 2023, Summer 2023 or Fall 2023 semesters.
  3. Can commit to the coaching program for 2 years prior to applying to their health professional program by attending 2 workshops and 1 individual coaching session each semester.

As your coaches, we focus on your development of academic, personal and professional competencies to increase acceptance to health professional schools. This one-on-one relationship is designed to support you in personal and professional growth, and provide you with the maximum resources to enhance your competitiveness to your intended health professions area. In addition, we will hold 2 workshops a semester with all coaching students focused on the 3 main areas below.

The program consists of 3 main areas:

Academic Competencies – Provide support and guidance in the area of GPA management, study skills, and test preparation.

Personal Wellness Competencies – Focus on student time management and coping skills for anticipated stress and anxiety.

Professional Competencies – Enable students to develop professional competencies which are evaluated by health professions schools. These competencies include service orientation, cultural competence, reliability, adaptability etc.
