Sridhar Sundaram joined USF on July 1, 2016 as professor of finance and dean of the Kate Tiedemann College of Business in St. Petersburg. Previously, he served as the associate dean responsible for all graduate programs and outreach centers at Grand Valley State University's Seidman College of Business in Michigan. He was the academic director of the Executive MBA program and the full-time integrated MBA program and until 2013, he served as the chair of the finance department.
Sundaram received bachelor's and master’s degrees in commerce (accounting) from P.S.G. College of Arts and Science in India. From Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, he earned an MBA and DBA (Doctorate in Business Administration) in finance.
During his career, Sundaram made significant contributions to the academy, receiving recognition, the “Niemeyer Award” for his outstanding teaching, research and service at Grand Valley State University. The Seidman College of Business alumni recognized his extraordinary work following the financial crisis in 2008 by awarding him the “Service Award” in April 2009. He has also received numerous awards in recognition of his work for the profession and the community.
His research work on banking regulatory effects and asset pricing is widely published in scholarly and practitioner journals. Sundaram has published in the elite finance journals including, the Journal of Banking and Finance, the Journal of Quantitative and Financial Analysis, and the Financial Review.
As dean, Sundaram provides both, strategic and operational leadership for the Kate Tiedemann School of Business and Finance. He has implemented an educational philosophy around the KNOW (relevant knowledge), DO (experiential learning), BE (student professional development) framework that helps develop a “complete business graduate.” His vision for the school is to develop a distinctive identity around innovative programs, impactful research and intentional community engagement.
He has consulted with many businesses in collaboration with the Van Andel Global Trade Center. Currently, he serves on the executive board of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and on the board of Saint Anthony’s Hospital. He served as chair of the steering committee for the St. Petersburg Grow Smarter initiative in 2019 and on the advisory board of a $50 million private company in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He also served as president and chair of the board of trustees for the West Michigan Hindu Temple.
Sundaram is married to Suganthi Sridhar and they have a daughter, Saranya, and a son, Sharath.
