Jean Keelan is the Director of Career Planning. She is responsible for the overall career planning functions, supervises Career Counselors/Consultants, coordinates the in-person and online career courses Career Development for Today (SLS-2401) and Job Search (SLS-3308), oversees the Major Possibilities program, supervises front desk operations, and provides career counseling and job search services.
Keelan has been a Student Affairs professional for 20 years and has held the following positions: Area Coordinator for Residence Life, Personal and Academic Counselor, Director of Career Services, and Director of the Academic Center for Excellence. She takes a holistic approach in working with students to assist them in their pursuit of academic and career success.
Keelan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a concentration in Creative Writing and a minor in Psychology; as well as a Master of Science degree in Educational Psychology, Counseling Adolescents and Adults from Southern Illinois Carbondale. She is a Nationally Certified Counselor with the National Board of Certified Counselors, a Registered Intern of Mental Health Counseling with the state of Florida, and a Certified MBTI Interpreter.
